Tim and Cari grew up in northern Minnesota, and were married in 1983. After a year internship in their "home" church in Thief River Falls, they moved back to the Chicago area, where Tim finished his M.Div. and Th.M at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, while pastoring an Evangelical Free Church in Fox Lake.
God then called them to an EFC in Beresford, SD, and an EFC in Boone, before Tim became the Senior Pastor of Grace. God has blessed Tim and Cari with three daughters, Sarah, Charissa, and Linnea.
Tim enjoys reading, woodworking, and the outdoors. He is passionate about expository preaching and global evangelization. In addition to his pastorate at Grace, Tim also currently serves as the Director of Baltic Church Planting for Emmanuel Ministries, Intl.
Tim is fond of the Puritans, and is often quoting Jonathan Edwards on the sufficiency of Christ alone to satisfy the inner cravings of the soul: "The excellency
of Christ is an object adequate to the natural cravings of the soul... the soul
is exceedingly ravished when it first looks on this beauty, and it is never
weary of it... The soul that comes to Christ, feeds upon this, and lives upon
it... Here the longing soul may be satisfied, and the hungry soul may be filled
with goodness. The delight and contentment that is to be found here, passes
understanding, and is unspeakable and full of glory."
Tim's favorite texts to preach on this theme
would include Psalm 16:8-11, Psalm 73:25-26, Isaiah 55:1-3, Colossians 3:1-4, and I Peter 1:8-9.

Senior Pastor
It has been a long time since I first started helping with a junior high youth group. I still remember feeling like a ‘fish out of water’ trying
to communicate with a bunch of squirrelly adolescent guys! What a great time it was getting to know those students and investing in their
lives. That was 1994, and today my passion for Christ’s work in the lives of young people continues to grow each day. Praise God for
growing us in our faith each day through the lives of others who care about our spiritual journey!
And what a wonderful journey it is. God’s word promises that “He knows the plans he has for us, plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us a hope and
a future.” I know that as we come to God in prayer, he will continue to reveal plans full of blessings and hope for our young people.
In August of 2008, God blessed me with the opportunity to serve the body of Grace Community Church in a full time capacity. My role is one of pastor and director
of student and young adult ministries. My focus is on students between 6th grade and college/20’s age. My goal is to see young people coming
to know the Lord as their Savior and growing in their walk with Him.
It has been wonderful to have my wife, Tracy, be such a strong part of student ministries as well. Working with me through many of the years of my involvement, she
has an intimate knowledge of the ministry. She is my most avid supporter and shares my passion for students. She currently is a stay-at-home mom with our two children and also teaches for the Home
School Assistance Program part time.

Youth Pastor
We expect our pastor(s) to lead, train, preach and teach the Word, cast the vision, and serve as an example of godliness before the congregation. We call them to a ministry of Word and prayer, equipping believers to do the work of ministry.
Ephesians 4:11-16
And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,
for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;
until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature
which belongs to the fullness of Christ.
As a result, we are (K)no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine,
by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;
but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ,
from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of
each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.
New American Standard Version
Now at this time while the disciples were increasing in number, a complaint arose on the part of the Hellenistic Jews
against the native Hebrews, because their widows were being overlooked in the daily serving of food.
So the twelve summoned the congregation of the disciples and said, "It is not desirable for us to neglect the word of God in order to serve tables.
"Therefore, brethren, select from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge of this task.
"But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word."
The statement found approval with the whole congregation; and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit,
and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch.
And these they brought before the apostles; and after praying, they laid their hands on them.
The word of God kept on spreading; and the number of the disciples continued to increase greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the
priests were becoming obedient to the faith.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

In pointing out these things to the brethren, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, constantly
nourished on the words of the faith and of the sound doctrine which you (D)have been following.
But have nothing to do with worldly fables fit only for old women On the other hand, discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness;
for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise
for the present life and also for the life to come.
It is a trustworthy statement deserving full acceptance.
For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers.
Prescribe and teach these things.
Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.
Until I come, give attention to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation and teaching.
Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, which was bestowed on you through prophetic utterance with the laying on of hands by the presbytery.
Take pains with these things; be absorbed in them, so that your progress will be evident to all.
Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both
for yourself and for those who hear you.
New American Standard Version
I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom:
preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they
will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,
and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.
But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

Sue and husband Todd, both originally from NW Iowa, moved to Boone in 1994 due to a job change for Todd.
Sue enjoyed the opportunity to stay home full-time for the next six years with sons Seth and Noah before she started working part-time as a secretary for Pastor Tim.
To support her garage sale/antique addictions, Sue sells what she can part with at a local consignment shop. Other favorites include traveling,
photography, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Sue feels blessed to be a part of the Grace family and staff and looks forward to seeing what God has in store for Grace!
Two of Sue's favorite verses are found in Philippians ~ 4:7 "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts
and your minds in Christ Jesus" and 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."
