Joel Waltz
Youth Pastor/Director of Student and Young Adult Ministries
It has been a long time since I first started helping with a junior high youth group. I still remember feeling like a ‘fish out of water’ trying to communicate with a bunch of squirrelly adolescent guys! What a great time it was getting to know those students and investing in their lives. That was 1994, and today my passion for Christ’s work in the lives of young people continues to grow each day. Praise God for growing us in our faith each day through the lives of others who care about our spiritual journey!
And what a wonderful journey it is. God’s word promises that “He knows the plans he has for us, plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us a hope and a future.” I know that as we come to God in prayer, he will continue to reveal plans full of blessings and hope for our young people.
In August of 2008, God blessed me with the opportunity to serve the body of Grace Community Church in a full time capacity. My role is one of pastor and director of student and young adult ministries. My focus is on students between 6th grade and college/20’s age. My goal is to see young people coming to know the Lord as their Savior and growing in their walk with Him.
It has been wonderful to have my wife, Tracy, be such a strong part of student ministries as well. Working with me through many of the years of my involvement, she has an intimate knowledge of the ministry. She is my most avid supporter and shares my passion for students. She currently is a stay-at-home mom with our two children and also teaches for the Home School Assistance Program part time.
